Market Update: Giving back
Part of the Future Recycling business model is to give back to our local community, connect with future employees and ensure we are socially responsible. Across the country, there are thousands of students who do not have their own laptop in order to give them equity of access to education. This is why we got involved in This Is ‘IT’. Established in 2019, by a small group of business people, located in the south east region of Melbourne, This Is ‘IT’ provides scholarships to students without laptops. Cash for scrap metal banned
Long awaited legislative changes
On the 27th of September of 2017, the Victorian parliament passed laws banning cash payments for scrap metal recycling. With this legislation in effect following parliamentary assent, a transition period for businesses to incorporate the new practice requirements by the 30 May 3018; at the latest as all provisions will be activated, the Justice Legislation Amendment (Protective Service Officers and Other Matters) Act will change the scrap metal landscape.
